  • Return procedure
  • What documents are needed

Types of insurance for loans at Cetelem Bank

The bank offers several programs:

  • personal insurance that protects against job loss, health, and consequences insured event loss of life of the borrower (the service is provided in partnership with Sberbank);
  • car insurance is a must buy vehicle on credit;
  • GAP insurance is a program to protect a bank client from financial losses that arise when the price of a car decreases during operation;
  • against breakdowns - an optional service, upon payment of which the borrower receives an extended warranty for the purchased vehicle;
  • from loss of valuables;
  • insurance for those traveling outside the country;
  • “Multipolis” and “Multipolis +” are a comprehensive offer that includes all types of protection.

It is proposed to conclude a contract for optional insurance, as a rule, upon registration of a certain credit product. Services for mortgage lending Cetelem does not provide. But the company’s partners provide mortgage insurance, so if you wish, you can change the insurer when applying for a loan.

According to the law, a bank client cannot be offered insurance as a prerequisite for issuing a loan. But banks have a common practice of imposing life insurance contracts, property insurance, etc. when applying for loans.

Insurance return options

Compulsory The only insurance option for a loan at Cetelem is CASCO when purchasing a new car on credit. The information is confirmed by the bank itself:

At the same time, CASCO can be paid either separately or as part of a loan.

Other types of insurance contracts can be terminated by the client at will without any penalties on the part of Cetelem Bank during a cooling-off period of at least 5 working days. From June 1, 2016, this is permitted by law for almost any type of imposed insurance.

The insurance amount is added to the body of the consumer or targeted loan. A return under the contract is possible in the following cases:

  • the loan is not repaid and the client simply wants to return the insurance;
  • at early repayment.

Cetelem offers insurance in partnership with insurance companies. General terms under contract:

  • the client has a certain time (cooling period) from the moment of signing the papers, during this period he can submit a written application and refuse insurance, 100% of the insured amount is returned if the insurance contract has not yet entered into force;
  • if the appeal occurred during the cooling-off period, but after the entry into force of the contract, then a part proportional to the balance is returned insurance period under contract;
  • If the borrower decides to cancel insurance after the end of the period and the loan is not repaid, no refund will be made.

Other conditions are possible, depending on the insurer and the contract. Cooling period is also stated in the agreement, for example, for the Sberbank Insurance company under the terms of a comprehensive offer it is 21 days.

You need to contact the insurance company with which the contract was concluded, and termination actions should be carried out in accordance with the instructions of its specialists. In the event that the borrower has been connected to the Voluntary Program collective insurance, you need to contact Cetelem Bank directly:

Return procedure

To cancel and get your money back, you need to:

  • prepare a package of necessary documents;
  • fill out an Application for Termination of the Contract;
  • send them to insurance organization(the one specified in the existing contract).

What documents are needed

To terminate any insurance contract and return funds, you will need the following papers:

  • client's application for termination;
  • a copy of the concluded agreement;
  • copies of pages 2 and 3 of the Russian civil passport.

Sample applications can be found on the website: https://www.cetelem.ru/voprosy-i-otvety/ and from partner companies.

Successful termination and return are possible only with the correct and timely provision of a package of documents. For voluntary collective insurance, they should be sent by letter with notification to the postal address: 127137, Moscow, PO Box 101 (for Cetelem Bank). And when an agreement is concluded with a partner company, delivery occurs to its address.

Consequences of refusing insurance

In itself, refusal of the program does not entail penalties for the borrower. However, if in the future a person has any problems (illness, loss of work, other potentially insured event), then with an active program, the insurer will take on the problem of servicing the debt. If there is no insurance, then the client will need to take care of timely payment of the debt, otherwise collection measures will be applied to him.

Think three times before taking a loan here! For those who have already fallen for the bait of this bank, I am writing detailed instructions, how to refuse all additional services and repay the loan ahead of schedule. Those who are just planning to take out a loan here, read and decide for yourself whether you need this headache?

Unpleasant features of the bank:

1. lack of bank cash desks in service cities, payments through Sberbank take a very long time, at least 4 days.

2. Deception of employees when applying for a loan (they silently sign up for the “SMS-informer” service 49 rubles * number of months of loan, silently take out insurance - here the amount depends on conscience loan specialist, reaches 30 thousand rubles).

3. virtuality of the bank. “He seems to exist, but he doesn’t seem to exist” - this is about Setelem!

4. Personal Area on the bank's website at this moment it was not completed, it was not possible to order early repayment, in my opinion it is useless!

So, INSTRUCTIONS for those who fell for Setele Bank's bait:

1. You can pay without commission only through Sberbank online. At least 5 days in advance (or better 10!), otherwise, if payment is late, the fine will be at least 700 rubles per day.

2. You can refuse the SMS informant service at the service center of your city by writing a statement. The money will be returned on the same day to your credit account (not completely, it depends on how many months have already passed. If you write this application within the first month, they will return 49 rubles less).

3. You can refuse the “insurance” service only within 21 days, so if this service is imposed on you, immediately run to the service center and write a statement!

4. If you are planning to repay the loan partially ahead of schedule, you need to arrive at the service center at least 30 days before the date of early repayment and write an application; the date of early repayment is possible only on the day of the month specified in your agreement.

5. If you are planning to repay the loan in full ahead of schedule, then you don’t need to go anywhere. 30 days in advance or a little earlier, call hotline, enter your passport and contract number, and automatically (number 2) you will find out the amount required for full repayment. AND DO NOT hang up the phone under any circumstances. After the amount is announced (write it down on a piece of paper), you will NEED to confirm your intention to repay the loan (by pressing button 1). After you are informed that “you have requested early repayment and you will receive an SMS,” the call will end on its own.

6. In order for early repayment to take place, you need to pay the entire amount 10 days in advance (I actually paid 3 weeks in advance, just to be sure!).

7. After closing the contract, be sure to take a certificate of loan repayment; judging by the reviews on the Internet, even after repaying the loan, debts may “come out”. We order the certificate after the contract is closed at the service center (do it in 1 minute) and store it for 3 years.

P.S. I closed my loan a month later completely ahead of schedule, 1 time, according to the algorithm I described. But within a month I had to get nervous, reading reviews online about people’s loans not being repaid, huge fines, etc., etc.

If you have questions, write them in the comments, I will try to answer.

Every time, when applying for a loan, the borrower is faced with the need to purchase an insurance policy, and sometimes more than one. Bank as credit organisation seeks to minimize its risks, and the borrower does not want to overpay for a service he does not need. Let's try to figure out when it is better to be insured and how to refuse insurance after receiving a loan.

What is insurance and who needs it?

Choosing from those offered by the bank credit offers, the borrower tries to choose for himself best option: convenient in terms of annual interest and monthly payments. And very often he then asks in bewilderment why the bank employee is so persistently trying to “protect” him from various insurance situations? Why do credit managers constantly advise you to check the box “I agree to be insured”, predicting otherwise a negative response from the bank? Of course, the contract does not directly say that the borrower is obliged to purchase an insurance policy, but in reality...

Insurance is...

So, insurance is one of the banking programs with the help of which he tries to protect himself from possible non-repayment of loan funds. And today insurance is an application for all types of loans issued by banking institutions. When a client, experiencing financial troubles, can no longer pay his loan, the insurance company begins to perform this function for him.

What cases are insured?

Insurance is activated upon the occurrence of certain events recognized as insurable:

  • a situation arises in which the borrower loses his ability to work and receives a disability group (II or III);
  • the borrower loses his job not of his own free will (dismissal);
  • he cannot fulfill his obligations due to natural disasters that have occurred (for example, a natural disaster);
  • death of the borrower.

The amount that must be paid for insurance is a certain percentage of the loan body (principal debt), and it is precisely because of the not always justified overpayment that most people try to waive insurance after receiving a loan. By the way, the approximate amount of payments for it ranges from 25-30%. Insurance is added to each monthly payment, distributed evenly over the entire loan term.

Of course, there are positive aspects in insurance, but the occurrence of an insured event is not always possible, and, consequently, compensation payments. For example, if the borrower, after applying for a loan, begins to change financial position in the worst case (I quit my job and there are no funds to repay the debt), you should contact the insurance company with a statement about this as soon as possible. The deadlines within which you must notify your insurer are specified in the contract, but usually they do not exceed 3 days.

How to reduce your insurance payments

If the borrower refuses to insure himself, then in most cases he will be refused a loan by the bank. This is explained by the bank's unwillingness to lose its money. But, if the borrower nevertheless allowed himself to be insured, there are several questions, the answers to which will help reduce payments:

  1. If the loan is repaid in a short time, will the insurance amount also be reduced? Yes. And this is the most profitable way, which will allow you to save as much as possible on insurance.
  2. Are funds returned for purchased insurance if the insured event does not occur? The answer to this question is found only in the loan agreement and is fixed in the form of a period during which this can be done. But the borrower must be prepared that the insurer will make every effort to prevent this.
  3. What are the consequences of refusing insurance if the loan has already been approved: a fine or changes in the loan agreement? There are two possible answers here. First: the bank obliges the borrower to return it to him ahead of schedule, within two weeks. credit funds and at the same time pay the fine provided for in the contract. Second: the bank will not demand early repayment; instead, it will raise the annual interest rate for the use of borrowed funds by several points. How much the annual interest will be increased is stated in the loan agreement, and in each case individually. Thus, the bank tries to protect itself as much as possible from borrowers who sign out for a waiver of insurance after receiving a loan.

Obligation of the borrower or voluntary agreement?

There are not many cases when insurance may be mandatory:

  1. When applying for a mortgage loan: in accordance with Article 31 of the Federal Law “On Mortgages”, the housing purchased by the borrower is pledged to the bank and, in accordance with the terms of the agreement, must be subject to insurance.
  2. By type of loan products issued by the bank. When the property purchased by the borrower is pledged to the bank, under the terms of the agreement (for example, a car). In this case, the borrower is obligated to insure the car against damage or loss.
  3. When applying for any consumer loan, the bank has the right to oblige the borrower to purchase insurance policies health or life, that is, to protect oneself in every possible way for the proper fulfillment of one’s obligations under the contract.

By the way, the Federal Law “On Consumer Credit” pleases with innovations. So, if, when applying for a loan, the bank insists that the borrower purchase an insurance policy, for example, life, then today the borrower may not agree with this. This type of insurance is not required by law. In this case, the bank is obliged to offer the borrower an alternative solution: obtain a loan with insurance or obtain a loan without insurance, but with comparable conditions (for example, increased interest rate). The bank is also obliged to offer the borrower to choose the insurance company himself, but from a specific list.

How to resolve the issue in Sberbank

Solving the issue - after receiving - banking institutions are perceived differently. So, in order to return consumer loan insurance from Sberbank, there are 2 ways:

  1. If 30 days have not passed from the date of conclusion of the agreement, the borrower contacts the bank branch where the loan was issued to him. Next, an application for the return of unused insurance funds is written in free form, addressed to the head of the department. Here the insurance amount will be refunded in full.
  2. If more than 30 days have passed since the date of signing the agreement, a similar statement is written. But the amount that will be returned will be 50% of the insurance amount.

You can get your mortgage and car loan insurance back by using similar schemes for consumer loans. But there is a nuance: if the loan was repaid ahead of schedule and insurance was paid for the entire loan term, then it will be impossible to refuse insurance after receiving the loan. Sberbank will not return it.

Bank "Cetelem"

It is possible to return the insurance premium to Cetelem Bank, but what matters is what kind of policy was purchased. If you purchased a life and health policy, then within 21 days from the date of signing the contract you need to come to the insurer’s office and fill out a sample waiver of insurance after receiving the loan. The insurance will be returned to the borrower as loan repayment.

If a comprehensive package was issued for damage plus loss of ability to work and property rights plus health insurance), then it will be more difficult. Sberbank Life Insurance LLC is the insurer of Cetelem Bank. And in this case, the decision will be made by Sberbank after the borrower writes an insurance waiver after receiving the loan. Cetelem will not be able to help you with your insurance refund.

Bank "MCB"

It is almost impossible to return purchased insurance policies to MKB. You should read the contract several times to avoid losing money.

For example, the borrower contacted the bank for consumer loan in the amount of 350,000 rubles. The credit manager verbally explained that a prerequisite for obtaining a loan is the registration of a plus against accidents, illnesses and death). According to the agreement, the amount could be repaid ahead of schedule, with a return of at least 50% of the insurance amount. The borrower was satisfied with these conditions, and he signed the agreement without carefully studying it. The total amount on which the annual interest was calculated was 500,000 rubles. Six months later, the borrower repaid the loan ahead of schedule and wrote an application for payment of the unused insurance amount. But, instead of the promised 75,000 rubles (insurance was 150,000), he was transferred only 9,000.

Having started to understand, the borrower very soon found out the truth: inattention when studying the loan agreement cost him the purchase of 4 insurance policies from a popular insurance company, two from another company. For joining collective insurance, the fee of 60,000 rubles is not refundable under any circumstances. Despite the written refusal of insurance after receiving the loan, MKB did not return any more money to the borrower.

Bank "Renaissance"

Renaissance Bank allows its borrowers to refuse insurance in two cases.

  1. After signing the contract, the borrower must issue an insurance waiver within 5 days after receiving the loan. Renaissance Bank will return the insurance premium. If you write a statement later, the insurance company will apply Art. 958 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, will terminate the contract and will not return the money.
  2. By receiving loan funds ahead of schedule, the policyholder will return to the borrower only a certain amount of the insurance premium, namely, “the insurer has the right to receive a portion of the insurance premium based on the time during which the insurance contract was in force.”

A few final words

The decision about whether to be insured or not is made by the borrower, but even if his choice is positive, you can always issue a waiver of insurance after receiving the loan.

And one more piece of advice. Borrowers, fill out an application for refund of insurance in two copies and require employees of the insurance company or bank to put the registration number and date on your copy. Sometimes documents tend to get lost...

Cetelem Bank provides a wide range of credit and financial services, a frequent addition to which is an insurance contract. Insurance premiums can be quite high, and the borrower may want to refuse this service. Let's consider whether it is possible to return insurance at Cetelem Bank and how to do it.

On June 11, 2014, I entered into an agreement to purchase a KIA RIO in the amount of 616,787.18 rubles, of which life insurance was 71,922.18 rubles, for a period of 60 months. I was convinced that, according to clause 2.2.5 of the life insurance contract, if I repay the car loan early, the unused portion of the insurance will be returned to me. On May 25, 2016, I fully repaid the loan, the remaining insurance amounted to about 43,000 rubles. After repaying the loan, I came to Cetelem Bank in Penza, and the bank representatives gave me a certificate of no debt on the loan and told me that I would send documents: an application for termination of the insurance contract, a copy of the insurance contract, a copy of the passport page with a photo and a certificate , confirming full repayment loan to Moscow from Sberbank Life Insurance LLC. I waited for an answer from Moscow for almost a month. On June 29, 2016, I called Moscow. “Sberbank Life Insurance” answered me that it received my documents on 06/03/2016 and, having studied them, sent them to Cetelem Bank on 06/07/2016 and they said that I was not entitled to a refund of the premium, because according to clause 2.2.5 of the contract I had to within 21 days after signing the insurance contract, write a statement about its termination and then the insurance would be returned to me. I conclude that Cetelem Bank deliberately misled me by deceiving me about the return of the unused portion of the insurance upon early repayment of the loan. Why hasn’t Setemel Bank notified me of my question yet, why have I incurred costs by sending documents by registered mail to Moscow and why have Setem Bank employees deceived me when signing the agreement, knowing that there would be no refund? Cetelem Bank deceives customers. I express my complete lack of confidence in Cetelem Bank. Will I be able to get the insurance returned, or did I donate 43,000 to Sberbank? At the moment I have existing loan in Sberbank, which I carefully pay. So maybe they will write off 43,000 of my insurance against my loan?

Bank representative's response

01.08.2016 18:09:14

Dear Dmitry Alexandrovich!

First of all, let me thank you for choosing our Bank in such a wide consumer lending market.
On the merits of your appeal, we inform you that when concluding a loan agreement, you have the right not to sign documents until you are fully familiar with the terms of lending at the Bank. Thus, your signature on the documents confirms that you have read and agree to the terms of the loan. If you are not satisfied with the specified conditions, you have the right to request that the Agreement be drawn up on other parameters. The availability of additional services does not affect the Bank's decision to issue a loan.
Thus, simultaneously with the conclusion of the Agreement, you signed an application for insurance, thereby confirming your desire to join the collective program voluntary insurance from accidents and illnesses.
Including an insurance program in a loan gives you reliable guarantees of securing your obligations under loan agreement. If an insured event occurs, payment of the loan debt, as well as additional payments specified in the insurance contract, falls on the Insurance company, and not on loved ones. Taking into account these advantages, Bank employees inform clients about the possibility of connecting to insurance services. In accordance with the Conditions of participation in the collective voluntary insurance program against accidents and illnesses, participation in the insurance program may be terminated early based on a written application from the Client. In this case, a full refund Money, paid by the Client as a fee for connecting to the insurance program, is made by the Bank if the Client contacts the Bank with a written Application for refusal to participate in the Insurance Program within 21 days from the date of connection to the insurance program.

Information on refusal to participate in voluntary services is available on our official website: https://www.cetelem.ru/faq#q-77 (“What to do if you want to terminate the insurance contract or refuse to participate in the Insurance Program?” )

Sincerely,
Customer Service Department
"Cetelem Bank" LLC

Response from the editors of the ARB website

Dear Dmitry Alexandrovich, your complaint has been sent to the bank.
