Meanwhile, I want to have a universal card for all occasions - for storing money, and for receiving cashback, and for use abroad.

Salary cards as a class are united not only by meager functionality, but also by the inconvenience of “parting” with them. As a rule, they are issued centrally, but for closing you have to communicate directly with the bank. You can continue to use the card until its expiration date, but after it leaves the salary project, the cost of maintaining it falls on your shoulders.

Basically, we are talking about a fee for annual maintenance and SMS-informing. It is not uncommon when, having forgotten about old unnecessary cards, we receive bills from banks with accrued payments, fines and penalties. So why not choose a convenient card of a convenient bank once and for all?

The abolition of "wage slavery"

The law allowing an employee to choose a bank for issuing a salary card came into force on November 5, 2014. If an agreement still fails, you will have to fulfill your threat or retreat if you are not ready to risk ruining relations with the chief accountant. Based on the results of the audit, sanctions may be applied to the employer for non-compliance with the Labor Code of the Russian Federation. And if nothing has changed after the inspection by the inspection, all that remains is to go to court to protect your rights.

There are other ways to solve the problem - without notifying the employer and the payroll bank. Some credit organizations offer a service for linking cards in their Internet or mobile bank, after which funds from a salary card can be “taken away” without commission. Ideally, the map of my dreams should be free from all of these shortcomings, but if I can reduce their list, it will also be nice. I started the search with additional wishes:

  • The commission for withdrawing cash from third-party ATMs should not be too high, and the best thing is to be absent altogether (especially if the bank does not have a very developed ATM network).
  • Free interbank transfers are desirable.
  • The minimum commission for SMS-informing (few people provide this service for free).

Suitable cards were found at once from several banks. A nice bonus was the free delivery of the card by courier to your home or office. In Moscow, many banks in pursuit of customers began to offer this service. If you choose one of the so-called online banks (Touch Bank, Rocketbank, Tinkoff Bank), then you won’t have to visit the office at all, all problems can be solved remotely - by phone, through a mobile application, chats, by email mail.

When choosing a card, I did not try to “jump over my head”, but focused on my usual financial behavior. That is, I took into account how much my salary would come in, how much I would spend on purchases per month, and how much cash I would need. There were many suitable options. At the same time, I did not consider special cards for payroll workers. Let's go to them.

Individual salary project

Recently, banks have been actively recruiting clients for "individual payroll projects." What it is?

When you transfer your salary to the bank, you get a card with no annual service fee, preferential conditions for cash withdrawals in the network of third-party banks, and other privileges, such as obtaining a loan at a reduced rate, opening a deposit at rates above the market, and others.

The card can be opened both as part of a service package and without it. Moreover, many credit institutions did not create a separate product, but simply added a condition on the transfer of wages to the current tariffs (for example, Alfa-Bank, FC Otkritie Bank).

With regular receipt of funds to the account from a legal entity with the appropriate purpose of payment (salary or advance payment), you are assigned the status of "salary client". The category of the issued card directly depends on the amount of receipts. The more funds are credited to the card, the higher category of the card will be offered.

But not everyone can become participants in such a project. The salary must not be lower than the level set by the bank. VTB 24, Raiffeisenbank, Binbank, Svyaz-Bank, Citibank and others have individual salary projects.

So, we have determined the circle of suitable cards, now let's look at the pots. Last but not least, we are interested in their reliability, because we have to store all our income there. Funds on the accounts of individuals are insured by the DIA in the amount of 1.4 million rubles. If the bank's license is revoked, this amount will be returned to you.
