ATMs with cash acceptance function. Cash-in is becoming a standard The high cost of ADM prevents their spread

Nowadays, electronic money is becoming more and more popular. Some Internet users need input, others need output, and others need to use both functions regularly. Alfa-Bank offers a very convenient Cash-in system, which allows you to replenish electronic wallets and withdraw funds.

Alfa-Bank is very convenient in this regard. To deposit cash into the bank card owner's account, you can use the terminal. For this purpose, you only need to know the credit card number. There is no commission involved.

The convenient service Transfer FormulaA, which is a joint service of the Free-lance.ru project and Alfa-Bank, is successfully operating.

The system was developed specifically for those customers who are accustomed to hiring remote employees, that is, freelancers who want to manage finances and their projects online. Any client of Alfa-Bank can easily transfer their funds to the account of the free-lance.ru website. Replenishment is carried out using the Alfa-Click Internet bank. Everything happens online.

How the system works:

  • In the Alfa-Click Internet bank, you need to find the “Payments” section and go to the “Payments to bank partners” tab.
  • From the list of recipients you need to select the phrase: “Replenish your account on Free-lance.ru”.
  • After this, you need to enter the login of the freelancer site in the “Payment purpose” field.
  • The transaction is confirmed using a one-time password sent via SMS from Alfa-Bank.
  • If the user is not a client of Alfa-Bank, he will be asked to select the appropriate Service Package, fill out an online form, and then come to the bank branch at a specially appointed time to complete the procedure and sign the necessary documents.

In order to start using the Transfer Formula service, you must connect to the Alfa-Click Internet bank, which can be done at any bank branch or through the Alfa-Consultant call center. After completing the necessary registration, the client will be able to freely replenish any FM wallet using the Alfa-Click Internet bank. In this case, the commission for replenishing the wallet will not be charged.

If there is no need to have a permanent account with Alfa-Bank, but you need to replenish your WebMoney wallet regularly or one-time, then this can be done through Alfa-Bank ATMs with the Cash-in function, which allows you to replenish by account number.

The advantages of this method are the following:

  • Upon returning home, you need to confirm payment on the application page by entering the ATM number. Information can be taken from the receipt.

This method of replenishing WebMoney on each service has certain criteria: for example, per day you can top up your virtual wallet with an amount that does not exceed 100 thousand rubles or 2 thousand dollars. This applies to one certificate. If the limit is exceeded, the maximum allowable amount will be credited, and those funds that exceed it will be credited the next day. Depositing cash onto your card using an ATM is a practical way to top up your account. The Alfa-Bank Cash in function is convenient in that you can use the service not only using self-service devices of the bank itself, but also through friendly credit institutions.

Cash in at Alfa-Bank - what it is and how it works

Cash in literally means “depositing money” in English. The operation implies that a person places cash on a card, transforming it into electronic currency.

Functionality

At Alfa-Bank you can deposit cash within the established limits in several ways:

  • Through self-service network devices, which is the fastest and most convenient option. You don’t have to use a card if the device has the appropriate function;
  • Through ;
  • By contacting the bank's cash desk;
  • Through electronic money terminals - Eleksnet, Qiwi, etc.

The last method is the least practical, since in this case the intermediary company will charge a large commission for the transfer, and the transfer will take much longer than directly.

Depositing funds when using ATMs is instant. You can make Cash in to your card - and immediately pay electronically through the terminal, for example, top up your mobile account, pay rent, pay for any purchase at the nearest store.

How to use

The algorithm for using an ATM with Cash in is very simple:

ATMs with a cash-in function are gradually becoming more and more popular. The use of such devices frees customers from queues at the cash registers and allows them to carry out and control their transactions independently. In addition, the list of transactions that can be performed using such machines is growing. In the article you will find information about the capabilities of cash-in ATMs and learn how to carry out individual transactions using them.

Concept and capabilities of ATMs with cash acceptance function

This type of ATM is also called deposit ATM. Their main feature is that they are additionally equipped with a device capable of receiving funds into the account. Thus, an ATM for accepting cash (hereinafter referred to as ATM) also combines the function of a banking terminal.

With the help of BPN, clients will be able to perform the following operations:

  • repay the loan taken;
  • replenish your bank account or deposit;
  • withdraw cash from your card account;
  • top up your card account;
  • view your balance and receive a statement for a certain period;
  • transfer money to another card;
  • connect to the mobile banking service;
  • pay for mobile communication services, internet and other similar payments;
  • change the PIN code on the card;
  • pay insurance payments;
  • pay for goods and other services.

Rules for working with ATMs with cash acceptance function

How to top up your card account using ATMs that accept cash

Such an operation is possible both with and without a card (in which case you must enter the number). For example, a Raiffeisen Bank cash-accepting ATM makes replenishment only if you have a card. The replenishment procedure itself is as follows:

  • You need to insert a card into a special hole and enter a PIN code;
  • in the main menu, select the “Account replenishment” option (names may vary);
  • indicate in which currency the replenishment will take place (remember that the replenishment currency must match the account currency);
  • deposit the required amount of cash into the receiver;
  • execute the “Count” command (the name may also change);
  • after recognizing the entire amount, confirm the replenishment;
  • After the operation, pick up the receipt and card.

If the top-up amount after calculation is incorrect, you must select the “Cancel” option. The ATM will return the card along with the money.

If you need to add more funds to your account, you need to select the “Add” option.

Money is credited to the card immediately upon completion of the transaction. If replenishment occurs during non-working hours, weekends or holidays, then crediting, as a rule, occurs on the next business day (for example, Rosbank ATMs operate according to this scheme for accepting cash). Some banks process deposits around the clock, regardless of non-working days.

This operation is carried out at ATMs without using a bank card. The algorithm for repaying a loan taken from a bank is as follows:

Deposited funds are subject to the rules applicable to replenishing bank cards.

If you deposit an amount greater than the monthly payment, the change will be counted as early repayment (at the Bank of Moscow, the ATM for accepting cash does just that).

Features of cash-in ATMs of individual Russian banks

In the bank Raiffeisen ATMs that accept cash have the following features:

  • accept rubles, dollars and euros;
  • banknotes of any denomination of one currency are accepted for one transaction;
  • In addition to receiving, they can also issue cash;
  • Transactions are only possible with a receipt tape;
  • It is recommended to deposit no more than 30 banknotes at a time;

At the bank Alpha A cash-accepting ATM operates according to the following rules:

  • accept rubles;
  • no more than 30 bills at a time;
  • for one operation you can deposit no more than 15 thousand rubles;

Concerning Promsvyazbank(cash receiving ATMs), then the following is important:

  • reception currency – ruble;
  • There is no fee for using an ATM (exception – replenishment through cards with a grace period for lending);
  • services are available only for cards of Russian residents.

U Gazprombank Cash-accepting ATMs are widespread and only accept Russian rubles. The bank does not specify the maximum number of banknotes per transaction. It is clear that you cannot put more than what is included in the bill acceptor. Uralsib ATMs operate according to the same scheme for accepting cash.

  1. Follow the rules for working with ATMs for accepting cash.
  2. To ensure successful operations, do not bring old or torn bills into the receiver, as well as paper clips, rubber bands and other packaging materials.
  3. To confirm the completed transaction, print a receipt.
  4. When replenishing, please provide accurate payment information and check it.

The results of one of RBR's latest studies, Deposit Automation and Closed Cash Circulation 2012, show that the use of automated deposit machines (ADMs) can bring tangible benefits both to the banks that implement them in their ATM networks and to their customers. The study also highlights how widespread the use of ADM has become in various countries around the world.

A review of the markets of 51 countries around the world showed that at the end of 2011, 670 thousand terminals with the function of automatic deposit of cash and/or checks were installed worldwide. Over two years, this figure increased by 45% - quite dynamic growth, considering that the global ATM market grew by only 14% over the same period.

Developing countries set global growth rates

According to the results of a study by RBR, in 2010–2011. more than 50% of new ADMs were installed in China and Russia. In both countries, banks actively developed the retail business segment, especially in the areas of consumer lending and utility payments. As a result, they faced the problem of queues, which served as the main motivating factor for the active installation of ADM. The review found that while 50 of the 51 countries covered have already installed ADMs, adoption of the technology is still low in most markets. Only eight countries had more ADMs than bank branches by the end of 2011, while ten countries had less than one device installed per ten branches. However, in most countries the rate of adoption of ADM will accelerate over the next five years.

In 2011, a quarter of all ATMs in the world offered cash and/or check acceptance. Japan continues to be the only country in the world where all ATMs offer both cash withdrawal and cash withdrawal services. Turkey ranks second in terms of adoption of automatic deposit technology among ATMs - 66% of ATMs offer automatic cash deposits - and South Korea rounds out the top three with 60%. In 31 of the 51 countries studied (including Brazil, India and the UK), the share of ATMs with automatic deposit functionality did not exceed 10%.

There is still a large installation base of self-service banking devices with envelope deposits in the world - at the end of 2011 there were 2 times less of them than ATMs and cash-in terminals. Envelope deposit remains a popular service in a number of major ATM markets, including the US, Brazil, India, UK, Spain and France. At the same time, banks in these countries intend to gradually replace envelope deposits with automatic (cash-in) deposits over the next few years.

Efficiency and extended hours of service access drive demand for ADM

Most ADMs in the world are available to clients 24x7, i.e. both during working and non-working hours, despite the fact that the majority of terminals are installed at bank branches. 133 banks participating in the study indicated that the migration of transactions from cash registers to self-service channels is one of the main factors contributing to the spread of ADM. It is equally important to provide extended hours of access to ADM, which is highly valued by individuals and representatives of small and medium-sized businesses. The population gets the opportunity to pay urgent bills at a time convenient for them, and small business owners have the opportunity to deposit proceeds at the end of the working day.

According to banks, migrating transactions from teller counters to self-service channels not only reduces queues, but also enables the reorientation of cashier staff to more profitable activities such as sales, further reorganization of traditional branches and reduction of operating costs. In developed countries, more and more banks are striving to open branches without a cash desk or without servicing cash circulation. It is in these cases that automation of deposit transactions is a key solution. In less developed countries, where the number of customers continues to grow rapidly, banks use ADMs primarily to reduce the load on cash registers and reduce queues.

The popularity of cash recycling continues to grow

More than half of the world's installed ATMs support closed-loop cash circulation, but two-thirds of the total recycler fleet is installed in Japan. Outside of Japan and South Korea, where the technology is also popular, by the end of 2011 only 18% of installed ATMs supported it.

In some countries, such as China, legislation still makes it difficult to use recycling technology, while in other countries the economic feasibility of introducing such devices is much lower due to their high cost and the imbalance between the number of cash withdrawals and deposits. Many banks are delaying the purchase of recyclers in an attempt to better understand the level of actual demand for automated deposit services among their customers and in the hope that recycler prices will decrease over time.

More than 80% of ADMs with the function of accepting checks are installed in South Korea and the USA. While all South Korean ADMs also accept cash, the US continues to lead the world in the number of ADMs dedicated solely to accepting checks. Overall, check-accepting ADMs are present in only half of the countries covered by the RBR study. Terminals with automatic coin acceptance functions are installed in only a few countries. Banks believe that this feature is not necessary for their customers, except in areas in close proximity to a large number of retail outlets. In addition to insufficient demand, supporting coin acceptance may in practice be prohibitively expensive as modules will fill up quickly, requiring more frequent collections. Coin-dispensing terminals are also unpopular among banks, although some devices offer change in coins when paying utility bills.

The high cost of ADM prevents their spread

The price difference between ADMs and ATMs with only a cash-out function is the main obstacle to their more active distribution. In low-income countries, banks are concerned that the high purchase costs of deposit devices will not lead to significant savings. Additional upfront costs associated with setting up an ADM, including branch reorganization and customer education campaigns, also negatively impact the popularity of this business model.

The regular cost of maintaining and repairing ADMs is also considered a limiting factor in most countries - and its importance is reinforced by the issue of ADM reliability. According to banks, the complexity of the ADM design makes these terminals more vulnerable to breakdowns, which results in higher repair and service costs compared to cashout ATMs.

Insufficient reliability of ADM can damage the bank's reputation and, as a result, lead to the migration of clients back to cash desks. However, banks report that their experience with ADMs has been generally positive and that all major shortcomings associated with the operation of such terminals are usually resolved during pilot projects.

Due to the high cost of purchasing and maintaining ADMs, banks often have a hard time justifying the installation of these terminals, especially if customer demand for deposit transactions is low. The difficult economic situation in some countries has resulted in fewer transactions being carried out by customers. In such situations, banks tend to install only a small number of such devices - usually in the most frequently visited branches.

ADM adoption levels have reached a tipping point in many countries

Automation of cash and check acceptance is becoming standard in a growing number of countries - and this is putting some pressure on banks that still do not offer this service to customers. RBR forecasts that the number of ADMs worldwide will double over the next five years to reach 1.3 million by 2017. This means the market will grow at an average annual rate of 12%, three times the expected rate growth of the global ATM market.

By 2017, in 20 countries the number of ADMs will exceed the number of bank branches, and on average in the world there will be 1.5 ADMs per branch. The average number of ADMs per bank branch will be the largest in Japan (5.9) and Russia (5.5). By the end of 2017, China and Russia will become the largest markets for cashin devices in the world, followed by Japan, South Korea and the USA.

Overall, demand for ADM remains high, and it is already clear that most banks consider it economically feasible to implement this technology. For some banks, ADMs are primarily a way to reduce costs, while others use them to improve the level of customer service. Whatever the motivation, banks around the world are taking steps to ensure that ADMs become an integral part of the modern self-service channel.
